Ryan wins challenging mountain stage Ronde de L'Isard

Archie Ryan has won the fourth stage of the Ronde de L'Isard. In the rugged mountain stage, the young Irishman jumped away from the leading group and soloed to victory. Johannes Staune-Mittet completed the yellow-black party by finishing second and cementing his leading position in the general classification.

"It was a brutal stage with many altimetres. The last sixty kilometres were terribly tough", sports director Sierk Jan de Haan said. "It was simply incredible to watch how well they worked together. Archie attacked, allowing Johannes to finish second by taking advantage of other riders' hard work. I am extremely proud of the boys. The level they are at is really very high."

Stage winner Ryan echoed his team leader's words. "On every climb, there was hard riding. In the end, Johannes and I ended up ahead with five guys", he explained.

"I had to help Johannes and maintain the classification. We controlled the attacks before I launched my attack. To finish first and second is fantastic. Today's success was truly a team effort. The main goal was to keep the yellow. Winning the stage is the icing on the cake", the stage winner concluded.

Ryan now has two victories to his name after today's success. The Jumbo-Visma Development Team has already amassed a total of nine wins.
