Victor Campenaerts finished sixth at the Belgian National Championships in Binche. After 230 kilometers, Tim Wellens claimed victory following a solo effort of forty kilometers. Campenaerts played an active role in the race with several attacks, contributing to the high pace and tough conditions.

“I felt I had managed my energy well in the early part of the race and wanted to anticipate on that things would slow down behind me,” Campenaerts reflected. “Then I tried again, but Tim Wellens responded strongly. At that point, I didn’t have enough left to follow.”

"I take a good feeling from this performance going into the Tour de France"

It was a warm day in Binche, which added to the difficulty of the race. The pace was high, with average speeds of up to 50 kilometers per hour in the opening hours. With around 100 kilometers remaining, a large breakaway group formed, including Campenaerts. It soon became clear that this group would stay clear of the peloton.

“I’m satisfied with the feeling I take from today. It’s a pity I couldn’t fight for the win, but this gives me confidence heading into the Tour de France,” Campenaerts concluded.

Matthew Brennan secured second place at the British National Championships. After 187 kilometers, Samuel Watson crossed the line first, while Brennan won the sprint from a reduced peloton. After finishing eleventh last year, this marks the young Brit’s first British championship podium finish at elite level.

The race was aggressive from the start, with constant attacks. Team Visma | Lease a Bike remained attentive throughout, consistently represented at the front. Thomas Gloag managed to get away briefly, but his move was quickly neutralized by the chasing peloton.

After two hours of racing, a breakaway formed and held a lead until just before the finish, when they were caught by the chasing group that included Brennan. The decisive move came late in the race, with Watson attacking solo to claim victory.

Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development rider Tomos Pattinson delivered a strong performance, riding attentively deep into the race and providing valuable support for Brennan.

In a rainy Wales, Imogen Wolff finished ninth at the British National Championships. The race featured several attacks, and a group of four riders eventually managed to stay clear. Wolff crossed the line in the chasing group, finishing fifty seconds behind the winner. The 18-year-old Team Visma | Lease a Bike rider showed an active and solid performance under tough conditions.
