Stage victory for Vos in La Vuelta Femenina on special date

Stage victory for Vos in La Vuelta Femenina on special date

Marianne Vos has won the third stage of La Vuelta Femenina. Partly thanks to the hard work of her teammates, Vos was brought to the finish line in a comfortable position. In the sprint, the Dutch rider was by far the fastest after over one hundred and thirty kilometers. Exactly eighteen years ago, Vos achieved her very first UCI victory.

A solitary breakaway rider tried to stay out of the peloton's reach all day long. Despite a significant lead, Mireia Benito did not succeed. This was mainly due to the efforts of the riders from Team Visma | Lease a Bike. They personally closed the gap of several minutes and gave Vos the ultimate chance.

As the sprint began, Vos was excellently positioned. Strengthened by her experience, the 36-year-old rider made her move at exactly the right moment. With several bike lengths difference, Vos crossed the finish line with her hands in the air. Exactly eighteen years after her first triumph, Vos could add victory number 252 to her record today.

"I am very happy that I finish it off this way"

Marianne Vos

"This victory truly feels very good,” Vos said after her fourth win of the season. "Yesterday we put a lot of energy into chasing victory, but unfortunately we didn't come close due to misfortune. Today we decided to play all or nothing once again. The girls took control of the race from minute one. I am very happy that I finish it off this way and can reward the team for all the hard work. The motivation remains very high because we all work incredibly hard together as one team. We’re having a great season. Hopefully we can continue this.”

With her victory, Vos gives Team Visma | Lease a Bike their fifth win of the season.
