Team Jumbo-Visma gets through second stage Tour de Suisse without problems

Team Jumbo-Visma hasn't been part of the battle for the day's victory in the second stage of the Tour de Suisse. Andreas Leknessund, who was in the breakaway, managed to finish the 198 km long stage on his own.

After a speedy opening phase, ten riders formed the day's breakaway. They built up a five-minute lead and Leknessund went solo on the last of the three climbs. Although the peloton did everything it could to close the gap, the second place turned out to be the maximum.

Pascal Eenkhoorn finished 12th in the sprint of the depleted peloton. "We came through the day well", sports director Marc Reef said. "It wasn't up to us to take responsibility; it was up to other teams. Our goal was to stay with Sepp and we did that well."

Reef expects that the sprinters will be in charge in the Swiss race's third stage. "It's the tour's flattest stage, so there's a good chance there will be a sprint. With Mike Teunissen, we will try to get involved in the battle for the prizes."
