Team Jumbo-Visma survives tough Queen stage Tirreno-Adriatico

Another tough mountain stage was scheduled for the riders of Team Jumbo-Visma in the Tirreno-Adriatico. The riders did not play a significant role today but made it through the Queen stage. They are looking forward to the remaining stages.

From the start in Norcia the road went uphill towards the Sibillini mountains, where one climb was followed by another at high speed. Team Jumbo-Visma held up well in the big group. Towards the final climb to Sassotetto the peloton was gradually catching up on the early breakaway. As soon as the escapees were caught, the peloton broke into pieces and once again it was up to the GC riders to compete for the victory.

According to sports director Addy Engels, his team is looking forward to the coming stages. “Everyone got through the day well. At the foot of the final climb all our riders were still in the big group but it exploded pretty fast. The race was not very exciting for us today, it was mainly a very tough stage. You can see that the peloton is getting a bit weary."
