Vader secures mountain jersey in fourth stage Tour of Slovakia

Milan Vader has secured the mountain jersey in the fourth stage of the Tour of Slovakia. The Dutchman of Team Jumbo-Visma scored several points on the day's first climb, making him out of reach of the competition.

Like Vader, Colby Simmons, wearer of the young rider's jersey, did well. The American rider struggled on the final climb but then rejoined the peloton. The 19-year-old rider of the Jumbo-Visma Development Team sprinted to sixth place in the closing stages. Simmons maintained his lead in the young riders' classification. Tim Merlier won the stage.

Vader also picked up six bonus seconds at two intermediate sprints. As a result, the Dutchman moved up to third place in the general classification.

"We proved ourselves again today"

Robert Wagner

"Just like yesterday, the goal was to defend the mountains and the young riders' jerseys”, sports director Robert Wagner said. "We managed to do that once again. Milan even took the mountain jersey. The plan was also to be alert in the intermediate sprints. This allowed us to move closer to the podium with Milan. Colby finished sixth in the bunch sprint. It is great to see him riding at this level. We proved ourselves again today. Tomorrow is the last stage of the Tour of Slovakia. We want to win the jerseys we currently have, and we hope to be on the final podium with Milan.”
