About Olav Kooij
In the cycling world, Olav Kooij is regarded as a top sprinter. Kooij, only 23 years old, has been racing for Team Visma | Lease a Bike for the past four years after first competing for the squad's Development Team. The top sprinter has already been able to add several triumphs in various stages to his resume. Kooij experienced his greatest victory at the Giro d'Italia, where he won his first stage in a Grand Tour. The sprinter achieved great success in 2021, winning a bronze medal at the U23 World Championships. Two years later, the young Dutchman managed to contribute to the team's historic season with 13 wins and a third place at the European Championships. In 2024, Kooij sprinted to the silver medal at the European Championship and won his first one-day race at World Tour level with Bemer Cyclassics.
