Eighth Place for Oudeman in Third Stage of the Vuelta a Burgos
Maud Oudeman finished eighth in the third stage of the Vuelta a Burgos. The young Dutch rider showed herself in the challenging finale, securing an impressive top-ten result. As a result, Oudeman now sits tenth in the general classification.
During the third stage of the Spanish stage race, Team Visma | Lease a Bike positioned itself at the front of the peloton early on. In the opening phase, Katharina Sadnik tried to make a move by launching an attack on one of the uphill sections, but the peloton came back together later on.
In the demanding finishing circuits, the Dutch team remained attentive. Oudeman showed her strength on the final climb and managed to stay with the group of favourites. The 22-year-old Dutch rider eventually crossed the line in eighth place. Mischa Bredewold won the stage.
"She really showed her qualities there. It was a good day."
“As a team, we rode a strong stage today,” reflected sports director Jan Boven. “Maud made a strong impression on the final climb, which was great to see. She really showed her qualities there. It was a good day.”
Tomorrow’s queen stage will likely decide the general classification. “Tomorrow features a very tough final climb where the GC will be decided. We will try to support Maud as best as possible. She is in good shape and seems to be among the strongest climbers in the race, so we are looking ahead with confidence,” Boven concluded.
