Breuckers and Wändel step up from JEGG-SKIL-DJR to Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development

With Dutch rider Winand Breuckers and Swedish rider Elias Wändel, another duo is moving up from the junior team JEGG-SKIL-DJR, which is supported by Team Visma | Lease a Bike. Both second-year juniors have signed a two-year contract with Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development.

The collaboration between Team Visma | Lease a Bike and the leading junior team JEGG-SKIL-DJR has now been running for three years. After Ian Kings and Patryk Goszczurny, Breuckers and Wändel are the next riders to take the step up within the development pyramid of Team Visma | Lease a Bike.

Head of Development Robbert de Groot is pleased that the partnership is once again bearing fruit:

“This is exactly how we envisioned this collaboration. We scout riders at a young age and then give them the opportunity to race on an international level with the JEGG-SKIL-DJR junior team under the guidance of our own coaches. Through our close cooperation with the team, we already get to know each other well before the riders make the step to the U23 category. In the case of Winand and Elias, that now also leads to their next step within our development pyramid.”

The duo is, of course, very excited about the next step in their cycling careers. “This is a very nice opportunity,” said Breuckers. “It makes me proud to race for Team Visma | Lease a Bike. At the same time, I realize that even after this step there are still many more steps to take before reaching the WorldTour. I’m very motivated to seize this opportunity with both hands.”

Wändel added: “It feels great to be able to take the step up, and it means a lot to me. I think Team Visma | Lease a Bike is a great team and I’m looking forward to wearing the jersey.”
