No leading role for Team Jumbo-Visma in final stage of Tour de Romandie

The riders of Team Jumbo-Visma have not played a leading role in the final time trial at the Tour de Romandie. Tony Martin recorded the best time for the Dutch formation and took 24th place. Frenchman Remy Cavagna won the 16 kilometres time trial.

Sports director Jan Boven: ”It has not been the day we had hoped for. Yesterday we already saw that Steven and Sepp were struggling. They rode completely empty and you could see that again today. Despite the good reconnaissance and the fighting spirit, both riders lacked the strength to get a good result on this tough course today.”

"Sepp did a good job. He rode like a leader."

Sepp Kuss achieved the highest final ranking for Team Jumbo-Visma. The American finished fourteenth. “We made the most of last week. There was some disappointment, but it was a fair race in terms of the level of racing. Everyone had the same weather conditions and the riders who were able to deal with that the best won. Sepp did a good job. He rode like a leader. In addition, Tony and Jos also were strong. We have given Jos a precautionary rest today, with regard to the Giro. We have mixed feelings, but we did what we had to do and we didn’t let up anywhere as a team.”
