Team Jumbo-Visma gets through the first stage of Tour de Romandie without any problems

Team Jumbo-Visma got through the first stage in the Tour de Romandie without any problems. The stage to Martigny ended in a bunch sprint. Sepp Kuss was the best classified rider of the Dutch formation with the sixteenth place.

Early in the stage a breakaway group of six riders got established. They got a maximum lead of more than six minutes. In the final they were caught, after which the stage was decided in a bunch sprint. Team Jumbo-Visma rode grouped all day and got through the stage quite easily. Christoph Pfingsten, however, did crash, but was able to finish the stage without any major injuries.

"We were prepared for attacks on the last climb. The attacks did not happen, because there was a lot of headwind"

Sports director Jan Boven

Sports director Jan Boven saw his team starting the final prepared. “We were prepared for attacks on the last climb. The attacks did not happen, because there was a lot of headwind. The team rode according to plan today and we were in a good position the entire stage. Tony brought the other guys in a good position to the foot of the final climb and in the end we had six guys left in the first group.”
