Our history

Our history

Team Visma | Lease a Bike has built up quite a ‘legacy’ in recent years, with fine successes in grand tours, classics and other races. The team has constantly adapted and developed from the transition period under the name Blanco to the successful years with Team Jumbo-Visma, winning all three grand tours in one year.

The following overviews the key stages in the team's recent history.

Team Blanco (2013)

In 2013, the team entered a transition period as Team Blanco, following Rabobank's departure as its main sponsor. The temporary name reflected a fresh start and the search for a new sponsor. Despite the uncertainty, the team, with riders such as Bauke Mollema and Robert Gesink, remained a strong force in the peloton. Team Blanco built on the Rabobank legacy and laid the foundation for future successes, making this brief period an important phase in the team's development.

Belkin Pro Cycling Team (2013-2014)

In 2013, the Dutch team embarked on a new chapter with technology company Belkin as its new sponsor. With a focus on Dutch talents and experienced riders such as Bauke Mollema and Robert Gesink, Belkin became a recognizable name in the peloton. The team built on Rabobank’s successes and established a solid foundation for the future.

Team LottoNL-Jumbo (2015-2018)

In 2015, the team changed name and sponsor again, with Lotto and Jumbo as main sponsors. During this period, riders like Steven Kruijswijk, Primož Roglič, and Dylan Groenewegen put the team on the map in the Tour de France and other major races. Team LottoNL-Jumbo thus laid the foundation for a successful future, focusing on both general classification contenders and sprinters.

Team Jumbo-Visma (2019-2023)

In 2019, Visma became a co-sponsor alongside Jumbo, leading to the team’s new name, Team Jumbo-Visma. This partnership provided the team with additional resources to compete at the highest level. With riders like Roglič, Kruijswijk, Jonas Vingegaard, and Wout van Aert, the team achieved historic successes, including victories in major tours such as the Vuelta a España, Giro d’Italia, and Tour de France. Team Jumbo-Visma grew to become one of the most dominant squads in the peloton.

Team Visma | Lease a Bike (2024 - now)

In 2024, the team entered a new era with Visma and Lease a Bike as main sponsors, bringing fresh ambitions in innovation and sustainability. With riders such as Jonas Vingegaard, Matteo Jorgenson, and Wout van Aert, the team achieved strong results despite some injuries in the spring.
