Groenewegen superior again with impressive victory in Norway

Dylan Groenewegen has won the third stage in the Tour of Norway in an impressive way. The 24-year-old sprinter of Team LottoNL-Jumbo won the stage in the streets of Sarpsborg. The manner in which he won resembled his win on Wednesday: very convincingly and with bravado. With his second stage victory and the bonus seconds that came with it, Groenewegen reclaimed the overall lead. It’s his seventh victory of the season and the fourteenth for Team LottoNL-Jumbo.

Only in the last five hundred metres the early breakaway was caught. After a strong and perfect lead out by Timo Roosen and Amund Jansen, Groenewegen perfectly timed his sprint. 

“This was a very close call”, a relieved Groenewegen said about catching the breakaway in the last few hundred metres. “I’m very happy that we succeeded and that I won the stage. Once again, the team has done an incredible job and for this  I’m very grateful to my team mates. It was a long and very difficult sprint, but the stage win is in the bag. The lead-out of Timo and Amund was another textbook sprint and also Paul Martens and Pascal Eenkhoorn contributed to this win a lot. Tomorrow, there’s another chance and we are fully going for it again. For now, I’m very happy and relieved that I’ve won. My seventh victory this season, it’s going very well this year.”
