Team LottoNL-Jumbo’s aggressive way of racing in the final stage of the Tour of Norway has not been rewarded with a striking result. The stage in and around Lillehammer proved to be very tough. Amund Grondahl Jansen and Paul Martens were both present in a leading group several times. In the end, Martens was the team’s best-classified rider at the twenty-fifth place.

“The longest breakaway perhaps didn’t last any longer than half an hour with a maximum advantage of thirty, forty seconds”, Jansen said. “It was a fast, aggressive race and there was no time to recover. It didn’t stop for a single moment. I really wanted to be in the breakaway today, but unfortunately we never got much space. We were caught on the heavy climb in the local laps.”

Nevertheless, Jansen looked back at the Tour of Norway with a good feeling. “It’s very nice to race in Norway before your own people. I think we have shown here that we have a good lead out. We’ve also seen that Dylan is very, very fast. We’ve reached our goal: winning stages with Dylan. We can look back at the past week with a good feeling.”

Sports Director Nico Verhoeven also looked back on a beautiful week. “Today we have attacked in a very offensive way. That was also the intention, because we knew that the stage wasn’t going to end in a sprint here. Amund and Paul did a fine job. We won three stages here and we had the leader’s jersey for three days. We did a good race”, the sports director said.
