Preview Four Days of Dunkirk and Tour of California

The second week of May is one of the busiest on our team’s race calendar. Besides Italy, we are also active in France and the United States.

In the Four Days of Dunkirk, Dylan Groenewegen is our team’s leader. Multiple stages will probably end in a mass sprint. The fifth stage of the French stage race is the queen stage. In Tony Martin and Pascal Eenkhoorn, the team has two more riders who are able to perform well.

Sports director Nico Verhoeven about the Four Days of Dunkirk: “Our focus is to fine-tune Dylan’s lead out. The main goal is to win mass sprints with him. The expectation is that four stages will end in a mass sprint. The fifth stage is the queen stage. It includes eight laps on a local circuit of 14.6 kilometres. This includes Mont Cassel, a 1.7 kilometre long climb with an average of 4.7 percent.

George Bennet leads the team in the Tour of California. The rider from New Zealand won the stage race two years ago.

Sports director Grischa Niermann about the Tour of California: “Our goal is to go for a good GC with George. The most important stages are the second, third and sixth. The other stages will probably end in a sprint where Danny can go for a good result.”
