Preview 'Opening weekend'
According to many cycling fans, the season starts now as the ‘Opening weekend’ is coming up. On Saturday, Wout van Aert will make his debut for Team Jumbo-Visma. Together with, for example, Mike Teunissen, Timo Roosen and Danny van Poppel, we have a very strong team in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.
On Sunday, Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne is on the program. Last year, Dylan Groenewegen won the race. Can he repeat his victory this year?
Race director Nico Verhoeven: “Overall, we have a very strong team for Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. We have to use it in the best possible way. Wout, Danny, Timo and Mike are the men who need to ride the final. They’ll have to try to get across the Muur van Geraardsbergen among the best riders there are.”
“In Kuurne, we are going to ride for the win with Dylan. We have to survive the hilly part and try to get in a good position for the sprint.”
