Preview Ruta del Sol and Volta ao Algarve
The first win of the year is in the books! We’ll continue our season this week in Ruta del Sol, Volta ao Algarve and UAE Tour. What will our riders be capable of in those races?
Steven Kruijswijk will start his season in Spain. He went on altitude training on the Teide in Tenerife with Primoz Roglic, Laurens De Plus and Antwan Tolhoek.
Dylan Groenewegen will continue his season in Portugal. The Dutchman took his first win last week in the Vuelta a la Comunitat Valenciana. In Algarve, multiple sprint stages await him. His goal is to win one or more stages.
Sports director Grischa Niermann about Volta ao Algarve: “The most important focus is on the sprint this week. There are two stages which will probably end in a sprint, so we want to try to win those stages. Besides that, Neilson Powless will have a free role.”
Sports director Frans Maassen about Ruta del Sol: “For most riders, these are the first races of the season. We have prepared ourselves during the entire winter. The most important goal is to win a stage.”
