From the world of mountain biking, Milan will make the switch to road cycling in early 2022. At Team Visma | Lease a Bike, the Zeeuw wants to see how far he can get on the road. In April of that year, Milan was involved in a terrible crash in the Tour of the Basque Country, after which he spent several days in a coma in the hospital in Bilbao. With an incredible dose of fighting spirit, here manages to get back to his old self, having had to learn to walk again after his discharge from the hospital. In September, Milan will make his comeback in the CRO Race.

In 2023, Milan is slowly growing towards his top form. In the Tour of Slovakia, he showed himself to be the best climber in mid-September by winning the mountain classification. A few weeks later, during the now traditional season finale in the Grey-Tour of Guangxi, here crows victory during the queen stage. Milan finished solo on Nongla Hill, after an attack in the closing stages. He also managed to take home the overall victory. These are Milan's first two WorldTour victories. In doing so, he also had an important share in the success year of Team Visma | Lease a Bike.

Milan will ride some fine races in 2024, including the Amstel Gold Race, Liège - Bastogne - Liège, the Tour of Switzerland and the Canadian races in the fall. Milan will also return to the Tour of the Basque Country and be a part of teammate Koen Bouwman's triumph at the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali. In Guangxi, he hopes to score again at his farewell race for Team Visma | Lease a Bike, but his time with the team ends on a minor note. In the third stage of the Chinese stage race Milan fell hard on his knee. He was forced to abandon the race.
