In pictures: the second week of La Vuelta a España

The second week of La Vuelta a España is in the books. Jonas Vingegaard has reclaimed the red leader’s jersey and will aim to defend it together with the team in the final week. Scroll down to see the most stunning photos from week two!

Stage 10 & 11

In stage ten, Jonas reclaimed the red jersey. He still holds onto the leader’s jersey and hopes to keep it all the way to Madrid. In stage eleven, Jonas appeared to be battling Tom Pidcock for the stage win, but the race jury later decided that no stage winner would be declared that day in Bilbao.

Stage 12 & 13

On day twelve of the Vuelta, Victor slipped into the breakaway. The Belgian rode at the front for almost the entire day and ultimately finished fourth in the stage classification. In stage 13, the feared Angliru awaited the riders. Jonas gave his rival João Almeida absolutely no room to breathe, and in doing so, successfully defended his red leader’s jersey.

Stage 14 & 15

In stage 14, Jonas once again delivered a strong performance — thanks in part to the hard work of his team. The stage win went to an early breakaway rider, but the Dane managed to claim second place, just behind. With the bonus seconds that came with it, Jonas even managed to slightly extend his lead over the GC rivals. In stage 15, his lead was never under threat. And so, Team Visma | Lease a Bike heads into the final week with confidence and momentum!
