Fan Peloton talk: 'I enjoy the team strategy during a race'
In our column ‘Fan Peloton talk’, we put members of the Fan Peloton in the spotlight. Who are they, why do they feel connected to Team Visma | Lease a Bike and who is their favourite rider? In this episode, we have a chat with Emiro Romero.

When did you join Team Visma | Lease a Bike?
"I signed up as a member of the team at the end of 2024 because I think all the riders are great and I always enjoy the strategy they use in a race. A good example is Simon Yates' victory in the Giro d'Italia. Thanks to the hard work of Wout van Aert, who was part of the early breakaway, Yates could finish it off."
What do you like most about being a member?
"That you get access to exclusive interviews, newsletters and documentaries. I like being up to date with everything that's going on and feeling like you're part of it."
Have you ever been to a Team Visma | Lease a Bike event?
"No, unfortunately not yet. I have been to a number of races, though; last month, for example, I spent a few days watching the Vuelta. In the past, I've been to the Tour de France and the World Championships in Scotland."
How does someone from Colombia come in contact with Team Visma | Lease a Bike?
"Colombians are crazy about cycling. We cycle a lot and follow all the races that are broadcast on television. Team Visma | Lease a Bike has been my favourite team from the start. On the one hand because of the riders and on the other hand because of the different tactics they use."
Who is your favourite cyclist on the team?
"Jonas Vingegaard and Wout van Aert. Every year when I watch the Tour de France, Jonas has a great battle with Tadej Pogacar. I think that rivalry is incredible to watch. Wout was in Colombia once in 2022 and at that time I was participating in an amateur race. I can still remember that very well."
Suppose you could ask them something. What would you want to know?
"I am curious to know how they find a good balance between family and top-level sport. I can imagine that it is difficult to be present at all important family moments."
What is your affinity with cycling?
"I am a big cycling fan. I cycle at least twice a week, sometimes on a mountain bike and sometimes on a road bike. I also try to watch as many races as possible."
What would make your membership even better?
"I would love to receive a personal message from a cyclist on my birthday. Other than that, I don't have much to wish for. I am very happy with my membership."
