How Team Visma | Lease a Bike colored the Giro d'Italia and Rome pink

How Team Visma | Lease a Bike colored the Giro d'Italia and Rome pink

Simon Yates impressively crowned himself the overall winner of the Giro d'Italia last weekend. To celebrate this historic achievement, Team Visma | Lease a Bike colored the Italian capital Rome pink on Sunday. Together with its partners, the team unveiled specially designed kits and materials, ensuring riders and staff made a stylish statement during and after the final stage.

The traditionally final stage of the Giro d’Italia full of celebrations, won by sprinter Olav Kooij, didn’t go unnoticed by Team Visma | Lease a Bike. In honor of the team’s eighth Grand Tour victory, not only did Yates appear in pink - his seven teammates also wore a special edition kit.

Special jersey with pink accents

Alongside Yates’ Maglia Rosa, his custom Nimbl shoes and a pink Prologo saddle, the entire team embraced the theme: Giro helmets, DeFeet socks and GripGrab gloves were all completely pink. In addition, the riders’ jerseys featured elegant pink accents, and even the logos of our partners were adapted to match the celebratory design.

Jasper Saeijs, Chief Business Officer, on the creation of the special jersey: “This is a great example of how our partnerships truly make a difference. Each partner contributed with passion and flexibility. Their commitment and willingness to collaborate made it possible for us to make this day even more special.”

Materials and a stylish podium celebration

The riders' equipment was also fully transformed to match the Giro theme. Overall winner Yates rode a completely pink Cervélo, complete with matching SRAM shifters and wheels from Reserve Wheels. Furthermore, the Tacx bottle cages and handlebar tape of the entire team were colored pink.

The second overall victory of the Giro d'Italia in the team's history was celebrated in grand fashion on the podium in Rome moments later. While the riders took the podium in their unique jerseys, the team’s staff and riders’ families proudly wore specially designed casual shirts from La Machine, complementing the Maglia Rosa.

"This jersey is a symbol of the collective performance that defines our team"

Jasper Saeijs

“This jersey and the matching outfit and materials represent much more than just Simon’s victory; it’s a symbol of the collective performance that defines our team. From the riders and staff at the race to everyone working behind the scenes at the High Performance Center in 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands - we make these achievements possible together, and that’s something we’re truly proud of”, Saeijs says.
