Victor Campenaerts sidelined for several weeks after crash in Itzulia Basque Country

Team Visma | Lease a Bike rider Victor Campenaerts sustained a small shoulder fracture during his crash in stage two of Itzulia Basque Country. This injury will keep the Belgian out of competition for several weeks. As a result, Victor will not start in the Amstel Gold Race or Liège–Bastogne–Liège.

Victor Campenaerts: “Unfortunately, I won’t be able to ride the classics I had planned. The upcoming weeks will be focused on recovery. Following the doctor’s advice, I’m not allowed to train outdoors for now. My training will be limited to indoor sessions. I’d like to thank the team’s medical staff as well as the medical personnel at AZ Maria Middelares in Ghent for their excellent care.”

It is currently unclear when Victor will return to racing.
