Bennett in Piemonte and Lombardia
After a very successful first part of the Italian block, with two brilliant victories for Wout van Aert in what are normally spring classics, two traditional autumn races will follow this week: Il Lombardia and Gran Piemonte.
Sports director Addy Engels: “Gran Piemonte is the first race on the program. There are no real mountains in this race, but it goes up and down all day long. Saturday we will start in Il Lombardia. The steep climbs of the Madonna del Ghisallo, Muro di Sormano, Civiglio and San Fermo de Battaglia will play an important role again this edition. The high temperatures will also play a role. George has shown in the Tour de l’Ain that he has a very good level. With Antwan and Jonas we have two other riders who can compete for a good result.”
