Armirail rushes to silver medal at European Time Trial Championships
Bruno Armirail has secured a silver medal at the European Time Trial Championships. On the rolling course in Šenčur, the 32-year-old Frenchman posted a time of 28 minutes and 23 seconds, finishing behind only Primož Roglič.
Armirail, who won the European title in the Mixed Relay with his French teammates yesterday, got off to a strong start in his race against the clock. The Team Visma | Lease a Bike rider posted the fastest time at each intermediate split and took the hot seat after 22 kilometers. Roglič, who started several minutes after Armirail, completed the time trial more than six seconds faster.
"It was a tough time trial. Right now, I’m a little disappointed with second place because I finished just six seconds short of the European title and the jersey. But that’s racing. I think in a few days I’ll be happy with this performance. After the World Championships, where things didn’t go the way I had hoped, I bounced back well here", Armirail said.

"I want to thank the French team and Team Visma | Lease a Bike for their support. Without them, this result wouldn’t have been possible. And of course, congratulations to Primož on his win in front of his home crowd. Also, a big congratulations to my compatriot Maxime Decomble, who put in a great performance in his first elite selection."
