Beekhuis and Henderson in top ten in TT Healthy Ageing Tour

Teuntje Beekhuis and Anna Henderson have recorded the eighth and ninth fastest time respectively in the second stage of the Healthy Aging Tour. The riders finished just one second apart and just over one minute short of the stage win.

After the time trial in Lauwersoog was postponed twice due to the extremely strong wind, the riders of Team Jumbo-Visma still managed to set a fast time. Both Beekhuis and Henderson entered the top ten in the general classification.

"I surprised myself with this result."

Teuntje Beekhuis

“Today there was a lot of wind, so it was uncertain for a long time what shape we would be in and when we would start”, Beekhuis said. “Ultimately, the decision was made by the organisation to start on the road bike. I tried to keep my head cool in this situation and wait calmly. There were heavy gusts of wind during the ride which made it difficult to keep pressure. I tried to be as aerodynamic as possible on the bike and opted for the S5 Cervélo sprint bike today to gain extra time. I surprised myself with this result.”

Tomorrow is the last stage for the riders of Team Jumbo-Visma. This will take place on and around the VAM-Berg where the Dutch National Road Championship was held earlier this year.
