Good feelings prevail after disappointing final stage in Women's Tour

Team Jumbo-Visma has not been able to battle for the stage victory in the last stage of the Women's Tour. The multiple-stage race ended with a bunch sprint in which Coryn Labecki, unfortunately, could not clinch a podium place.

The final stage of the British race took the riders from Chipping Norton to Oxford. After a quiet opening phase, Romy Kasper broke away with eighteen others, but the group did not manage to stay ahead long. Shortly after the group was caught, three other riders managed to get away.

The trio had an advantage of about forty seconds, but at five kilometres from the finish line they had also been caught. A bunch sprint followed and Lowena Wiebes once again won. Coryn Labecki could not compete in the final bunch sprint and the American rider had to settle for the seventeenth place.

"We hoped to go for the win today. We were confident that we could do it. Unfortunately, it turned out differently”, race coach Carmen Small said. "Despite today's disappointment, we look back on a good week. We had some bad luck in stages one and two, but we showed great things in stages three, four and five."
