Henderson third in final classification Simac Ladies Tour; Swinkels wins mountain jersey

Anna Henderson has finished ninth in the final stage of the Simac Ladies Tour. The rider of Team Jumbo-Visma was part of the lead group with Karlijn Swinkels and sprinted to another top-ten finish. Henderson finished third in the general classification; Swinkels won the mountain classification.

After a fast opening phase, a strong lead group of 20 riders broke away from the peloton. Henderson and Swinkels were alert and joined the breakaway. The peloton did everything it could to catch the lead group but failed. Swinkels picked up mountain points; a solo attack by Katarzyna Niewiadoma was nipped in the bud. Henderson was just too far back in the sprint and finished ninth.

"I am happy with the result of this stage race."

Carmen Small

"Our riders did well, especially considering three of us left”, sports director Carmen Small said. "We rode close together all week. That is the key to success when you are at a numerical disadvantage. Yesterday's good performance contributed to a sound stage today. I am happy with the result of this stage race.”
