The fifteenth edition of the GP Québec featured nineteen laps through the city centre of the Canadian city, with the Côte de la Montagne climb playing a central role. Six riders quickly formed the traditional early breakaway, after which the focus in the peloton shifted towards the finale.

With 80 kilometres to go, the battle began in the peloton and Team Visma | Lease a Bike moved to the front. While Tim Rex launched an attack, Lemmen also showed his strength as a domestique for Jorgenson in the group of favourites. The 27-year-old American was among the strongest riders in the race and fought his way to eighth place. Remco Evenepoel proved to be the strongest in Québec.

“The team rode a good race, but there were also things we could have done better,” team director Robert Wagner reflected honestly. “It is obviously a big loss that Louis was unable to take part, as on this course he would have been among the favourites. But as a team, we showed ourselves well today and I saw a strong Bart and Matteo.”

Wagner’s focus now turns to Sunday, when the GP Montréal is on the schedule. “It is good to see that the legs were strong. Matteo already made a strong impression today, but Sunday’s course is tougher and one where he can perform even better. We are looking forward to it.”
