Markus also second in Simac Ladies Tour time trial

Riejanne Markus has again put herself in the spotlights at the Simac Ladies Tour. After finishing second in the prologue, she was again second in the slightly longer seven-kilometre time trial. Anna Henderson finished fourth.

On the hilly and fast city course in and around Leuven, the riders of Team Jumbo-Visma again showed an excellent level. The women of race coaches Carmen Small and Marieke van Wanroij got two spots in the top five. "I gave it my all, and now I am completely empty", Markus said. "On paper, it's a time trial, but it was like another prologue. Tuesday was a good warm-up, and this was actually a slightly longer version of the first day."

"It was pretty tough with the two climbs along the way. The course was very technical again. I have to say that it was a very nice and speedy course. I enjoyed it, but unfortunately, I came in second place again. That is a pity. On the other hand, we can be proud of ourselves again."

In the overall ranking, the winner and Henderson are in good positions. After three stages, Markus is second, and Henderson is fourth. "I'm happy with how things are going", Markus said. "I've tried not to have too high expectations this week, but I did want to feel again what it's like to race to the fullest. In a time trial, I always want to go for the win, and we will see how far I can get in the GC."

The Simac Ladies Tour continues tomorrow with a flat stage in the Dutch province of Flevoland.
