No top result for Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women in stage four of the Simac Ladies Tour

Nienke Veenhoven was unable to compete for another top result in stage four. After spending the entire day riding well at the front of the peloton, she couldn’t get involved in the sprint. Once again, Lorena Wiebes proved to be the strongest.

In the fourth stage of the Dutch stage race, Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women rode attentively. The Dutch squad remained consistently present at the front of the bunch, after which a large peloton headed into the final kilometer. In the sprint, Veenhoven ultimately couldn’t contest for another top placing.

"We rode well as a team today,"

Lieke Nooijen

“We rode well as a team today,” reflected Lieke Nooijen afterwards. “From the very start we positioned ourselves well at the front, and when the race split, we had five riders in the leading group. In the finale we tried to set up Nienke as best as possible, but unfortunately it was extremely hectic. Still, we can look back on a good race.”

Tomorrow brings the time trial, which could prove decisive for the general classification. “I’m looking forward to it. Of course, it’s been some tough days, so we’ll have to see how the legs will feel, but at least I’m really motivated,” concluded the 24-year-old Nooijen.
