Koster was one of the first riders to set a sharp time. She stopped the clock at 37:38 and was by far the fastest. Karlijn Swinkels, the third Team Jumbo-Visma rider in the Dutch championship, came closest to Koster with a time of 38:44.

Recognized specialists such as Ellen van Dijk and Markus appeared on the course in the final block. They had already fought a battle earlier this season in the Bloeizone Fryslan Tour. At the time, Van Dijk was only seven seconds faster than Markus. The latter therefore started this Dutch championship time trial with a lot of confidence.

However, at the first checkpoint, Markus had already lost nineteen seconds to Van Dijk, and the difference increased to over a minute at the second checkpoint. At the finish line, the difference was 1:38 in favour of the world time trial champion, who took the Dutch title convincingly. Markus finished second and Koster took the bronze medal.

"I'm super happy with this result. At the beginning of the season, I hoped to get on the podium, so I'm glad I did", Markus said. "Of course I had hoped for a super day, but unfortunately I didn't have one. I think I was physically not strong enough, but I can be absolutely satisfied with the second place."

Koster also looked back with a good feeling. "I had not participated in a Dutch championship time trial for a while, so I thought: I'm going to try again. When I was on altitude training recently, I brought my time trial bike along. I had made this a goal, so I think it's incredible I managed to get this result."
