Team Jumbo-Visma finished safely in mountain stage Giro Donne, Vos not at the start

Team Jumbo-Visma has not been able to play a significant role in the seventh stage of the Giro d’Italia Donne. In the stage to the top of the Passo Maniva, the yellow-black brigade rode well in front on the flat part, but on the climb it was up to the classification riders.

Marianne Vos, winner of two stages in the 2022 edition, did not start in stage seven. “I am happy with my two wins in this Giro. I will now recover and focus on the team’s next goals”, she said.

Fourteen riders took the lead right from the start and gained a lead of up to nine minutes. The peloton rode calmly until the Passo Maniva. Anouska Koster and Karlijn Swinkels were positioned well at the front at the start of the climb, but on the steep parts they had to let the classification riders go. Juliette Labous won the stage.

“We took it easy today”, race coach Carmen Small said. “A big leading group rode ahead and that was fine. Our focus in the race was on Marianne; therefore we considered today’s stage a reset for the rest of the race. Recovering was the most important thing in this ride. Now we’ll focus on the coming days.”
