Team Jumbo-Visma Women emerges unscathed from hectic stage Simac Ladies Tour

Team Jumbo-Visma Women has survived the hectic final of the third stage of the Simac Ladies Tour. A massive crash in the last six kilometres caused mayhem. Six riders managed to escape the crash and battled for the win. Marianne Vos crossed the line in eighth place and moved up to seventh in the general classification.

The 120 km long stage from Stramproy to Weert was one for the sprinters. The Team Jumbo-Visma women’s team rode attentively at the front of the peloton throughout the stage, partly due to the threat of wind. However, a massive crash threw a spanner in the works for the final sprint. Vos, who started the race in tenth place, eventually finished safely, just like her teammates. Dutch rider Lonneke Uneken won the stage.

“We can be happy that we got away with it. That is the most important thing”, said sports director Marco Postma. “Only Romy Kasper crashed just before the finish. Fortunately, she did not suffer any injuries. Other than that, we were doing fine. We had a good plan to position Marianne for the sprint. It was a technical final which suited Marianne very well. It’s a shame we couldn’t show it today. We hope all the other riders who crashed got away without too much damage.”
