Team Jumbo-Visma Women maintains top ten ranking in Festival Elsy Jacobs

In the first stage of Festival Elsy Jacobs Karlijn Swinkels and Riejanne Markus have sprinted to respectively seventh and ninth place. The riders of Team Jumbo-Visma maintained their top ten position in the general classification.

After a strong performance in the prologue, the Team Jumbo-Visma women’s team once again showed its strength in the first stage of the Luxembourg race. In the hilly stage the team chose to attack early on. Markus made a final attempt to attack after two riders from the early breakaway were caught by the peloton in the last ten kilometres. The race ended in a sprint.

"Tomorrow we’ll do everything we can to move up in the GC."

Karlijn Swinkels

“We wanted to make the race hard”, Swinkels said. “Everyone did what they had to do and that made it a fantastic race to ride. We have a strong team on the climbs and we could clearly see that today. This offers a lot of opportunities for tomorrow. Then we’ll do everything we can to move up in the general classification.”
