Vos claims second gravel world title with impressive performance in Australia

Marianne Vos has claimed the gravel world title for the second time in her career. The Team Visma | Lease a Bike rider was crowned world champion in Nannup, Australia, after a demanding race over gravel roads and challenging climbs. With her victory, Vos adds another rainbow jersey to her impressive palmarès.

“This victory really means a lot to me,” an emotional Vos said after the finish. This year marked the first time the UCI Gravel World Championships were held outside Europe. In and around Nannup, the riders faced a demanding 125.6-kilometer course with approximately 3,180 meters of elevation gain.

"I’m really happy to have been able to secure the rainbow jersey here."

The succession of short climbs made the course particularly challenging, requiring not only physical strength but also technical skills and good race management. On the demanding course, Vos once again demonstrated her versatility. “There was more mud than I expected. As a result, there were also some slippery sections on the course, so we had to be careful at times. Rosa was incredibly strong, especially on the climbs, where I really had to dig deep to stay with her,” Vos explained.

“It was a fantastic course here in Australia. I’m really happy to have been able to secure the rainbow jersey here,” the Dutch rider concluded. This is Vos’s second gravel world title. In 2024, she had already claimed victory at the World Championships in Leuven. With this latest world title, Vos adds another chapter to her remarkable cycling career and brings a difficult season to a close on a high note.
