About Carlijn Achtereekte

Achtereekte is a top athlete at heart. The Dutchwoman started her career on the speed skating track and developed into a successful long-track speed skater. She won gold in the 3,000 metres at the 2018 Olympics.

Achtereekte switched from skating to cycling in 2022 and joined Team Visma | Lease a Bike. In June's Tour de Suisse, Achtereekte made her professional cycling debut. She also participated in the La Ceratizit Challenge by La Vuelta and the Tour of Scandinavia. In 2024, the Dutch rider was an important part of the team in the Princess Anna Vasa Tour, in which she finished third in the overall classification and won the team time trial.
