Preview Giro d'Italia

In the Giro d’Italia, Primoz Roglic is the team’s leader. The Slovenian rider has been very successful so far this season. He won the Tirreno-Adriatico, the UAE Tour and the Tour de Romandie.

Sports director Addy Engels: “The Giro d’Italia is one of our main goals this year. Primoz is one of the top favourites. Everyone in the team needs to support him to reach our goal: to win the Giro d’Italia. With Laurens, Sepp, Antwan and Koen, Primoz got strong climbers who will support him. Tom, Jos and Paul bring the needed experience in the team. The first two will lead him through the flat stages, while Paul will support him during the harder stages.”

“The race starts with a 8.3 kilometres long prologue in Bologna that finishes on a 1.9 kilometre long climb with an average of 10 percent. Stage two to eight won’t be decisive for the general classification, but they can be tricky. At the end of the first week, there’s a 35 kilometres long time trial. During stage twelve, the peloton will enter the high mountains. The Giro ends with a seventeen kilometres long time trial in Verona.”
