Teunissen fourth in final stage Tour of Britain; two Team Jumbo-Visma riders in top ten GC

Mike Teunissen has finished fourth in the final stage of the Tour of Britain. The 27-year-old Team Jumbo-Visma rider had great speed in the final hectometres, but he came short for a podium place. In the general classification, Teunissen finished in seventh place, while teammate Amund Jansen claimed place ten.

Halfway the stage, echelons caused cracks in the large group. A reduced peloton, including Teunissen and Jansen on behalf of the Dutch team, eventually sprinted for the win.

“Amund and I were just able to follow”, Teunissen said. “In the sprint I hoped that they would not start from the last corner straight away. Unfortunately, that was the case, so I had to come from afar.”

Team Jumbo-Visma can look back on a successful week in the British stage race. In addition to both top ten rankings in the final classification, sprinter Dylan Groenewegen won three stages.
