Tulett aims to continue development in 2026 with more leadership

After taking a big step in 2025, Ben Tulett is now building towards confirming his potential in 2026, where more experience as a leader awaits the British climber following a year of learnings and personal highs.

For Ben Tulett, 2025 was a year of getting back on track after a difficult 2024. Something he succeeded with. He claimed overall victory early on in the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali, including a stage win, and collected several strong results throughout the season like podiums in Miano-Torino and Tour de l’Ain. In addition, he gained valuable experience during the Vuelta a España, where he supported Jonas Vingegaard to the overall victory. “It was incredible to see how Jonas handled everything during the Vuelta. It was a really big learning experience for me. I'm really enjoy learning from the champions in our team like Wout and Jonas,” Tulett recalls, as he looks back on 2025.

After a taking some weeks off the bike after the Italian fall classics, Tulett has now been training for a few months to make sure he is ready for a solid block of racing right from the beginning of 2026. First up is Ruta del Sol, before he returns to Drome and Ardèche Classic and not least the Strade Bianche. His spring will peak in April with the weeklong Itzulia - Tour of the Basque Country - and the Ardennes, where he performed well in 2025. “The parcours of Itzulia and the Ardennes suit me really well with the punchy climbs. I will have some increased responsibility within the team next season, and that doesn’t come by itself. You have to work for it,” he says.

The second part of the season is expected to build towards the Vuelta a España, where Tulett is once again taking on a free role.  “That gives me a huge amount of motivation,” he says. “I’m really looking forward to showing the best version of myself there. I’ll give it absolutely everything all year to do that. I can still compete for the white jersey, so I hope I can be in the fight for that.” Tulett will be sharing the leadership duties in Spain with riders like Wout van Aert, Matthew Brennan, and Jørgen Nordhagen, who will also get the chance to go for successes on stages or in the overall classification.

Finally, asked what would define a successful season, Tulett points to consistency. Finding a high level throughout the year is key. But of course, the 24 year old makes it clear what really makes all the training hours worth it. “I became a cyclist to win races,” he concludes with a smile.
