Chladoňová solos to impressive victory at Slovak National Championships

Viktoria Chladoňová has successfully defended her Slovak national road race title in impressive fashion. The talented Team Visma | Lease a Bike rider, who also became national champion last year and earlier this week secured the national time trial title, proved to be by far the strongest on the hilly course in Jeseník.

“I’m really happy with this victory,” Chladoňová said with a big smile afterwards. “It was a very hard race on tough terrain. It was very hot, which made it even more difficult. I felt really strong, and it’s amazing to be able to solo to the win.”

Chladoňová, who earlier this week already claimed the national time trial title, once again showed her strength today. The 19-year-old spent the entire race at the front, before eventually riding solo to victory on the hilly course. Her nearest chaser finished more than two minutes behind, underlining Chladoňová’s dominance.

"It’s fantastic to win the national championships for the second year in a row"

The young Slovak is understandably proud. “It’s fantastic to win the national championships for the second year in a row. Becoming national time trial champion as well makes it even more special. I will wear the jerseys with great pride over the coming year.”
