Fidanza gives Team Visma | Lease a Bike strong victory in Festival Elsy Jacobs

Martina Fidanza took her first victory for Team Visma | Lease a Bike on Sunday afternoon. The 25-year-old Italian finished off the preparatory work of her teammates and convincingly beat Valentine Fortin and Barbara Guarischi in the sprint of a small peloton.

For the second day in a row, Team Visma Lease a Bike showed itself as a strong collective in Luxembourg. At sixty kilometers from the finish line Eva van Agt and Rosita Reijnhout were in a leading group that had broken away from the peloton. With two laps to go, the front two groups came together and the entire team of Team Visma | Lease a Bike took the lead of the depleted peloton.

"This victory means a lot to me."

Martina Fidanza

Fidanza was brought to the finish line in a seat and completed it expertly. "This victory means a lot to me. The team has always supported me in the first part of the season, now it was my turn to give something back to them. I am very happy and proud that I was able to finish," Fidanza said.

"The girls did a fantastic job today. We were on the attack all day and showed we were the strongest team. On the last lap we decided that we would go full for the sprint. The girls rode a fast pace and set me off the best they could. I pulled the sprint early. It was a very long sprint, but luckily I was able to hold on to the line. I'm super proud to take my first win for the team."

In addition to the day's victory, Reijnhout and Van Agt also brought home a prize. Reijnhout won the Queen of the Mountain classification and Van Agt the sprint classification.
