Nordhagen impresses with fourth place in opening time trial at O Gran Camiño
Jørgen Nordhagen made a strong impression in the opening time trial of O Gran Camiño. The 21-year-old Norwegian delivered a solid effort against the clock, ultimately securing fourth place. Patryk Goszczurny also showed his form, finishing seventh. Julius Johansen proved to be the fastest at Torre de Hércules.
In the Spanish stage race, which for the Dutch squad is part of the White Jersey Group and sees the team line up with a mix of WorldTour and Development riders, Nordhagen was the first rider off the ramp. The young Norwegian posted a strong time of 18:11 on the hilly course.
As the rest of the field gradually came in, Nordhagen’s time proved difficult to beat. In the end, only three riders were faster than the young Norwegian, putting him in a strong position in the general classification.
"I’m extremely happy with my performance"
“I’m extremely happy with my performance,” Nordhagen reflected on his time trial. “I maybe didn’t fully expect to put in such a strong ride on this course, but I felt good. Unfortunately, three riders were faster, but I can definitely be satisfied.”
The focus for the 21-year-old climber now shifts to the coming days, with key stages for the general classification ahead. “Tomorrow and the day after, the main task is to get through safely. In the final weekend, the battle for overall victory will really open up, and I’m looking forward to being part of it. With today’s performance, I’m in a good position.”
