Podium Finish for Veenhoven in Veenendaal – Veenendaal

Podium Finish for Veenhoven in Veenendaal – Veenendaal

Nienke Veenhoven sprinted to a podium finish in the fifth edition of Veenendaal – Veenendaal. After a strong day from the team, Veenhoven was only beaten by Kathrin Schweinberger and race winner Charlotte Kool.

In the fifth edition of the Dutch one-day race, Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women immediately showed themselves at the front of the peloton. Among others, Lieke Nooijen was active in the opening phase of the race, but on the flat course it proved difficult to make the difference.

In the end, a large peloton headed into the final kilometres, with the Dutch squad positioning themselves well at the front in support of Veenhoven. Veenhoven was then delivered perfectly for the sprint, with the 22-year-old Dutch rider powering to a podium finish.

"Third place was the best possible result today, although I had hoped for more"

Nienke Veenhoven

“It was a hectic day,” Veenhoven reflected afterwards. “As a team, we tried to control the race as well as possible, and we did that well. Our goal was to sprint for the win today and in the end we were able to fight for victory. Third place was the best possible result today, although I had hoped for more.”
