Team Visma | Lease a Bike concludes the Giro d'Italia Women with good feeling

The 36th edition of the Giro d'Italia Women is wrapped up. Although Team Visma | Lease a Bike did not manage to win a stage, sports director Jan Boven looks back on the past eight days feeling satisfied. The Dutch team achieved four top-ten finishes, including one podium spot.

The final stage took the peloton over the 2020 World Championship course, with the finish on the Imola circuit. In the last of a total of three local laps, Lieke Nooijen, who finished fifth in the queen stage, made an effort to bridge the gap to the leading group. Although she came close, she failed to make the connection.

On the final climb, the GC women pulled ahead. Liane Lippert proved to be the strongest for the second time this week. Longo Borghini took the overall victory. Viktória Chladoňová and Rosita Reijnhout saw their names back in the top 20 of the final classification. "I had a good week. Compared to last year, I was able to show myself a bit more in the race. Last year, I was more reserved and found it difficult to ride in the peloton. That is going better and better," said Reijnhout.

"A small bummer is Marianne's exit."

Jan Boven

Boven is satisfied with the level achieved by his riders. "Rosita, Viktória and Lieke have ridden fantastic in recent days. In that respect, we can end the Giro with a good feeling. A small bummer is Marianne's exit. We would have liked to take a stage win with her, but it just fell short with second place."
