Team Visma | Lease a Bike safely comes through rainy fifth stage of the Giro d’Italia

Team Visma | Lease a Bike came through the fifth stage of the Giro d’Italia unscathed. Under harsh conditions, the Dutch team positioned itself at the front of the peloton throughout the day. The stage victory went to Igor Arrieta, who proved to be the strongest rider from the early breakaway.

Despite the difficult conditions, the Dutch squad showed itself attentively at the front of the bunch right from the start. On the first climb of the day, Campenaerts joined the breakaway group. While the leaders built up a two-minute advantage, the riders approached the decisive climb of the stage.

On the Montagna Grande di Viggiano, Team Visma | Lease a Bike was prominently represented at the front of the race. Team leader Vingegaard was well supported by his teammates and stayed calm throughout, with the Dane crossing the finish line without any problems.

"As a team, we did a good job today"

DS Marc Reef

Sports director Marc Reef was pleased with the team’s performance. “We’re happy to have come through the day safely. It was an extreme stage because of the weather conditions and the demanding route. Jonas was well protected throughout the entire stage, and with Victor in the breakaway we were prepared for different race scenarios. As a team, we did a good job today.”
