Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women show attacking intent in Classic Lorient Agglomération
Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women showed their attacking intent in the difficult finale of the Classic Lorient Agglomération. The team had Sarah van Dam and Rosita Reijnhout in the front group, but were unable to play a leading role in the sprint for the win.
In the 25th edition of the Classic Lorient Agglomération, in which Marianne Vos finished second last year, the team remained alert at the front of the race. The peloton’s attention soon turned to the local circuit, where several challenging climbs were on the menu.
Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women went on the attack in the finale. Daniek Hengeveld jumped across from the peloton to the breakaway, but unfortunately her move did not succeed. Eventually, a large group entered the final kilometre, with the victory decided in a sprint. Elisa Balsamo proved to be the fastest of the group.
"We had hoped for more in the finale, but unfortunately we were unable to play a leading role in the fight for the win"
“I have mixed feelings about today,” team director Joppe de Heij said afterwards. “We showed ourselves as a team in the finale, and Daniek also made her mark with an attack. Afterwards, she did a great job for Sarah and Rosita as well. We had hoped for more in the finale, but unfortunately we were unable to play a leading role in the fight for the win.”
