Van Belle sprints to eleventh place in chaotic Copenhagen Sprint
Loe van Belle sprinted to eleventh place in the Copenhagen Sprint. The race unfolded in chaotic fashion, with riders facing constantly changing weather conditions throughout the day, alternating between rain showers and periods of sunshine.
An early breakaway of five riders animated the race for much of the day, while the sprint teams controlled the pace in the peloton. With 20 kilometers remaining, a major crash split the field into several groups. Van Belle was part of the front group, while several of his teammates were delayed behind the incident. In the sprint for victory, Jasper Philipsen came out on top.
"Most importantly, all of our riders are okay."
Sports director Jesper Mørkøv reflected positively on the team's performance. "The guys rode a good race and were well positioned throughout the day. We were also in a good position heading into the local circuit and rode a strong final. As a team, we moved up well with two laps to go, but then the big crash happened at the front of the race. Loe was the only one who made it into the first group. In the end, he finished eleventh."
Mørkøv was also relieved that the consequences of the crash were limited for the team. "Most importantly, all of our riders are okay."
