Veenhoven eighth in sixth edition La Choralis Fourmies Féminine

Nienke Veenhoven crossed the line in eighth place in La Choralis Fourmies Féminine. The Dutch rider could not compete for victory in the streets of Fourmies. Imogen Wolff sprinted to a fine thirteenth place on her debut. Silvia Zanardi won the French classic.

Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women, with debutant Imogen Wolff, showed themselves right from the start. By being well positioned at the front of the peloton, Femke de Vries and two other riders managed to create a gap. The riders had a nice gap but were caught two kilometers before the finish. In the bunch sprint, the Italian Zanardi turned out to be the best.

“As a team, we rode very well and attacked,” sports director Jan Boven reflected. “We were at the front the whole race. It was unfortunate that Femke was caught with two kilometers to go. Nienke then did well in the sprint. Last year she wasn’t able to sprint for the win in this kind of race, but now Nienke is already sprinting to a top ten place. She is developing very well.”

Wolff, who made her debut for the team today, also impressed Boven. “Imogen is a very special rider. She joined the team on Monday and has had a very remarkable week. The fact that she can immediately keep up with the best is very impressive. In addition, she fits well in the group and found her place in the team quickly.”

"I can look back with pride on my first race for Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women"

Imogen Wolff

“It was a great day,” Wolff said. “I was taken care of by the team and it was a very nice first week. I didn't expect it to go so well right away today, but I'm super happy with the result. We rode as a team today and I can look back with pride on my first race for Team Visma | Lease a Bike Women.”
