In 2019, the then 22-year-old Jonas Vingegaard joins Team Visma | Lease a Bike. In his first year as a professional cyclist, he shows he can ride fast: Vingegaard wins the sixth stage of the Tour de Pologne. Two years later, in 2021, his big breakthrough follows. In the spring, he wins a stage in the UAE Tour and the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali. Furthermore, the Dane finishes second behind teammate Primoz Roglic in the Tour of the Basque Country. In the 2021 Tour de France, Vingegaard shows what he is capable of after leader Roglic has crashed out of the race. In Paris, he takes second place on the final podium. One year later, his and Team Visma | Lease a Bikes dreams come true. He wins the Tour de France after an amazing battle. With two stage victories and the polka dot jersey as the icing on the cake.
