After a fast opening to the stage, a large breakaway eventually formed, but the group began to split up as the decisive climbs approached. The final breakaway riders were caught on the way to the final climb, setting up a battle for both the stage win and the overall classification.

On Lagunas de Neila, a 6.4-kilometer climb averaging 9.1%, Pellizzari broke clear from the rest. Nordhagen was part of the group chasing the Italian and ultimately crossed the finish line in seventh.

Team director Maarten Wynants was pleased with the Norwegian's performance. "A good result with Jørgen today. It's the confidence boost he needs heading into the upcoming Vuelta."

Ben Tulett had a tougher day in the finale. The Brit started the day seventh in the general classification but slipped back on the final climb. "It was a bit less for Ben today. He slipped back on the final climb. We wanted to secure a top-10 finish in the general classification, and unfortunately, that didn't happen," Wynants said.

Still, the team can look back on the week with a positive feeling. "It was a successful week. We had two wins and a top-10 result for Jørgen in the final stage. We also had several young guys here this week, and they did a really good job. Everyone can take a confidence boost from this heading into their next goals."

With two stage victories for Matthew Brennan and a strong final stage from Nordhagen, Team Visma | Lease a Bike wraps up the Vuelta a Burgos with good prospects heading into the upcoming races.
